DELIGHT IN GOD'S WILL

The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. (1 John 2:17)

Dearly beloved,

This world is on a fast track. So the fashion also changes according to the modern times. Many are attracted to worldly pleasures which give them momentary happiness.

If you go after worldly pleasures, you can never lead a holy and righteous life as commanded by God. If you think you can lead a worldly life as well as a holy life, you are deceiving yourself. The lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life (I John 2:16) lead to destruction.

The Bible says, “For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want” (Galatians 5:17).

The Israelites, the people chosen by God, forgot their God who brought them out of Egypt and started leading wayward lives. It was then that Elijah, the prophet chosen by God, gathered them together and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions?” (I Kings 18:21). Because of the powerful prayer of Elijah, the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice. When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The Lord He is God.”

Yes, you can never waver between two opinions. If you do that, you will never reach your goal. Probably the sinful ways may bring happiness for a short while. But the Bible reveals, “The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). The devil is a deceiver. He even attracts certain godly people towards him and makes them indulge in terrible sins.

The Bible states, “The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever” (1 John 2:17). Worldly pleasures give only momentary happiness. But those who do the will of God shall receive everlasting happiness. When you become a slave to the Lord, you can always lead a life of joy and delight. The divine peace and joy of God will keep on filling your heart at all times.

Prayer:

Loving Lord Jesus,

It is your will for me to lead a holy life. I delight to do your will. I yield my life to You. I choose to live for your glory. Help me to lead a holy and righteous life. Let your divine peace and joy fill my heart. Bless me with everlasting happiness.

In Your matchless name I pray.
